SERVETTE FCCF – FC AARAU FRAUEN: LAST MEETING OF THE YEAR
The Servettiiennes will play the last match of the year at the Fontenette stadium this Saturday, December 9 at 3 p.m. against FC Aarau Frauen.
This Saturday on the Fontenette pitch, the Grenat will play their last match of 2023 in front of their Geneva audience. After 10 matches without defeat, the Servettians are currently in second place in the rankings. One point behind FC Basel and tied with FCZ, but with a better goal difference.
The Geneva side host FC Aarau Frauen, currently last in the standings and the only team that has not won this year in the AWSL. The Aargau only have two small points obtained in October against Lucerne and Rapperswil-Jona. This is an opportunity for the Grenat to take the lead and secure a second or even a first place before the end of 2023.
Jose Barcala’s players are guaranteed to finish in the Top3 this winter. However, certain circumstances could propel the residents of Fontenettee to the top of the standings during the winter break. The match between Basel and Saint-Gall having been postponed, the Garnet could take advantage of this postponement (to a date still unknown) to take the lead. The Garnet will have to achieve a similar or better result than Zürich against Thun. However, before taking out the calculator, the Servettians will have to fight a final battle before a well-deserved vacation. This is a great opportunity to end the year in style!
