At the European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia, Angel Rusev again showed his class and tenacity, winning his fourth European title in the 55 kg category. This success is all the more impressive considering the fact that Rusev faced a serious setback – a shoulder injury he sustained during the competition.
The 22-year-old Bulgarian athlete, who has already won three European titles in 2021, 2022 and 2023, benefited from his only successful experience in the snatch. After all his rivals had completed their attempts, Rusev rallied and took to the podium where he lifted 135kg – enough to secure the gold medal.
This triumph is a shining example of Rusev’s indomitable will and dedication to the sport. Not only did he show physical strength, but also exceptional mental toughness, overcoming pain and hardship to reach the top.
Congratulations to Angel Rusev for his outstanding achievement!
