Carlos Nassar won the World Cup in weightlifting

Carlos Nassar, a Bulgarian talent in the world of weightlifting, once again proved his top form, triumphing at the World Cup in Phuket, Thailand, and at the same time equaling the world record in the bout in the 89 kg category.

In this highly competitive category, Nassar faced off against major rivals such as Jason Lopez of Colombia, Antonio Pizzolato of Italy and Li Dain of China, who are among the favorites for Olympic gold in Paris. In the throwing event, Nassar set a new world record with 181 kilograms, but soon after the record was improved by Lopez with 182 kg.

However, Nassar remained steadfast in the deadlift, where he initially lifted 215kg. Later, he made two attempts at a new world record with 224 kg, but although he was close, he failed to realize them.

With a total score of 396 kilograms, Nassar won the title and equaled the world record in the bout. This achievement establishes Carlos Nassar as the leading figure in his category and the main favorite for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
